Pivot!
What "Friends" is teaching me about wacky seasons...
Did you ever see that episode of “Friends”?? Ross, Rachel, and Chandler try to haul a couch up a narrow, New York City stairway. It’s heavy, it’s inconvenient, and it does not go the way Ross planned. (LOL) He yells, “Pivot!” as the trio baby steps around a cramped landing, changing directions one inch at a time. (Spoiler alert: They never really get it there!) It makes me giggle.
I’m not maneuvering couches up staircases these days, but I am pivoting all over the place! It can feel like living in a pinball machine. I seem to gain momentum and confidence in one direction, only to PING PING!- ricochet in new direction. I pivot, and pivot, and pivot. 🙃 Kendra Adachi says that, “Pivoting is more important than planning.” I believe it. The way we respond to life’s hiccups and challenges can become all that we remember over time.
Pivoting is a life skill. And even when we get really good at it, it seems we are asked to do it more often, or for longer periods of time, or with less resources. Life is always going to ask more of us than we think we have. What a gift to know that God sees all of it!
Every pivot we make in this life is a reminder that we are not in charge and that we need His help.
God is always ready to lift our hearts and listen to our prayers! Isaiah 65:24 says, “Before people call, God will answer.”
From minor inconveniences (like busy traffic) to scarier challenges (like damaging storms), pivoting prompts us to pray. And every successful change in direction is evidence of God’s work in our lives and in our hearts. He gets the credit and the glory for all good things, sweet friends.
May is a wild time of year. I pray this is a small, gentle reminder that God sees you right where you are with all you’re holding. He’s got you, and He’s only a prayer away.
Let’s thank Him for all the goodness, growth- and pivoting- He’s shepherded us through in our lives!
Trust the Lord with all your heart. Don’t depend on your own understanding.

In weekday winners: Crockpot Veggie Lasagna
This was delightful! I’m always looking for Tuesday meals that I can prep before I go to work. This took me maybe 10 minutes to assemble. (Chopping veggies, layering noodles, etc) SO GOOD!
If you’ve ever been encouraged by Goodness and Grace and want a simple way to support this space, I recently created a Buy Me a Coffee page. It’s a small, optional way to give (like treating a friend to coffee), while helping me continue creating, sharing, and giving back through this mission. ☕️
No pressure at all, just an open door if it feels meaningful to you! 🥰
